Suddenly High Summer...

We drove over to the Northeast Kingdom this week, leaving the rods behind because it was so hot. A lot of the Winooski East of Montpelier looked really low from the road, and it was pretty dramatic to see all the places where the stream banks themselves were reshaped by last year's floods.

Drove over to the NEK on 6/25 and all rivers seemed low and the tribs especially so compared to the main branches. Fished a small section of the CT river near the Nulhegan. Didn't catch any but the fishing was great, water in the CT was cold. The East Branch of the Nulhegan was flowing well and cold water. Went further up and caught small wild brookies. Fished the Clyde the next day near Newport, caught many bass, water to warm for trout in this section this time of year. Fishing had been good elsewhere before the 90 degree temps. Tight lines everyone.

CVTU works to ensure that robust populations of native and wild coldwater fish continue to thrive throughout Northwest and Central Vermont. In doing so, we will maintain healthy fisheries for the enjoyment of future generations.
