Trout in the Classroom Teachers' Resources

Everything you need to know about  setting up and running a Trout in the Classroom tank can be found in the Trout in the Classroom Manual compiled by VINS and TU's Vermont Council, and revised (2025) by the CVTU TIC team.

For quicker, and perhaps easier access, key parts of the manual are reproduced here, along with some additional notes and resources produced by members of CVTU.  Because this webpage is intended as a quick reference tool, we've reorganized the manual here for convenience.  (Remember, for detailed information, RTFM: Read the Fish Manual!)  You can always contact your school's CVTU/TIC volunteer for assistance.

CVTU works to ensure that robust populations of native and wild coldwater fish continue to thrive throughout Northwest and Central Vermont. In doing so, we will maintain healthy fisheries for the enjoyment of future generations.
